Watch The Thrilling Final Trailer of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'
Die-hard fans of Star Wars have been looking forward to Rogue One, and one more trailer has been unveiled for the quickly-approaching Dec. 16 release.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a standalone film, the first in the Star Wars Anthology series. The new film is set some time after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) and before the original 1977 classic Star Wars that launched the blockbuster franchise.
The previous trailers for Rogue One have been bleak, showing its protagonists taking on a mission that is near impossible to complete: stealing designs for a planet-destroying weapon called the Death Star. The latest trailer takes on more of the fun, humorous tone that gave the franchise its charm. Viewers also see the return of villain Darth Vader, the familiar X-wing starfighters, new droids, and Rebellion fighters taking on the Empire's arsenal of weapons and Storm Troopers.
Rogue One is the first Star Wars anthology film, but another centered around the character Han Solo is scheduled for a 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich will star as the young version of Harrison Ford's Han Solo, while Donald Glover will reprise Billy Dee Williams' role as a young Lando Calrissian.
