Spread love it's the Christopher Wallace Way.
The Notorious B.I.G's childhood block will be renamed to honor the legendary rapper. The street, between Gates Avenue and Fulton Street, will be named Christopher Wallace Way.
The initiative passed on Wednesday by the Brooklyn Community Board 2. The City Council and Mayor Bill De Blasio will also need to approve the dedication.

The petition, led by LeRoy McCarthy, has been in the works for five years. Over the years many have opposed the dedication because of the vulgar content in Biggie's lyrics.
Transportation and Public Safety Committee Board Chair Juliet Cullen-Cheung said: “Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is a champion of feminist rights, is happy with her moniker, Notorious RBG.”

McCarthy hopes that the sign will go up by Biggie's birthday, which is on May 21st. He also spoke with Rolling Stone about Biggie's impact on hip-hop:
Honoring Biggie symbolizes more than just one man. It symbolizes a culture. It symbolizes a borough. It symbolizes a people, and hip-hop is worldwide.
In 2016, Brooklyn declared May 21st as Notorious B.I.G day.
