The Brad Furman-directed film, which is being distributed by Global Road, was set to release on September 7th. However it has been pulled from the schedule, with no official reason given, according to the Hollywood Reporter

City of Lies was not given a new date.

Because there was no reason given, one can only assume.

The two reasonable explanations are: A, the studio got scared off by all the bad press Depp has received, Or, B, the movie sucked.

In City of Lies Depp stars as LAPD Detective Russell Poole, who is trying to solve the murders of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. Forest Whitaker stars as a journalist assisting the detective.
