In the statement, Tommy Boy writes:
Because Tommy Boy has not had the opportunity to sit down together with De La Soul and finalize our negotiations something weve wanted to do for months we have decided to postpone the digital release of their catalog scheduled for tomorrow...We know fans are eager to hear these amazing recordings and we are hopeful for a quick resolution.
Earlier in the week, news came out that De La Soul's catalogue, which has never been available digitally due to various sample issues, would soon be available on all streaming services. However, it was clear that the group wasn't happy with the financial terms. They did an interview with Sway in the Morning and they have been updating their fans on Instagram.
Their latest update was that Tommy Boy wanted to sit down and negotiate, but the label wants the group to sign a confidentiality form first.
March 3rd will be the 30-year anniversary of the 3 Feet High and Rising album, De La Soul's iconic debut.
