Whitney Houston Documentary To Hit Theaters This Summer
Another Whitney Houston film is in the works.
A new Whitney Houston documentary chronicling the private life, career, and legacy of the late singer is slated for release in U.S. theaters summer 2018.
The film, directed by Academy Award-winning Kevin Macdonald is the first documentary to be officially authorized by the late singer's estate and will reportedly include never-before-seen footage of Houston, exclusive demo recordings, rare performances, and audio archives.

Macdonald opened up about the intentions behind the project:
“I approached Whitney’s life like a mystery story; why did someone with so much raw talent and beauty self-destruct so publicly and painfully? I was lucky enough to have the support of Pat Houston and the Whitney Houston estate in this quest,” he told Rolling Stone. “They entrusted me with the ‘keys to the vault’ while giving me complete freedom to follow the story wherever it went. At heart, Whitney is an intimate family story that reveals a new side to a woman that even her most die-hard fans never knew.”
Macdonald worked with Altitude on the documentary, the film production team behind the critically-acclaimed 2015 Amy Winehouse film, Amy. He was also at the helm of the 2012 Bob Marley documentary, Marley.
Since her passing in 2012, Houston has been the subject of several films, including the Lifetime movie Whitney and Showtime’s TV documentary Whitney: Can I Be Me.
