Man From Viral Bagel Shop Video Calls Himself A "Modern Day Martin Luther King"
What?
The man whose rant at a Long Island bagel shop went viral recently is referring to himself as a modern day Martin Luther King Jr.
Speaking with News 12, 45-year-old Chris Morgan talked about how the rant came about while he was trying to place an order at Bagel Boss. First, he claimed that there was some confusion between him and the cashier when he asked for egg whites, which was ultimately resolved. Then, Morgan says that the cashier was smirking and laughing, which led him to feel "like I was being maligned...less of a person."
After asking the cashier what she was laughing about, Morgan says that's when everyone seein the viral video stepped in, which incited the rant.
"Why is it OK for women to say, 'Oh you're 5 feet' on dating sites — you should be dead. That's OK?" Morgan said to the customers present on Wednesday when the exchange occurred.
Elsewhere in the video, another man told Morgan to "calm down," to which he responded: "Shut your mouth. You are not God or my father or my boss."
From there, Morgan was tackled to the ground by another customer.
"What message would you have for the people at that Bagel Boss?" the News 12 reporter asked Morgan.
"Grow the hell up and get over it. You're you, you're this, you're you, you're that, grow up," he said. "...I didn't expect this. I just wanted to get my message across and be on my way. But that's it. I'm your modern day prophet, I'm your modern day Martin Luther King. You don't like it...too bad, because I'm not changing."
Following the incident, Morgan claimed that Bagel Boss had invited him back for a free bagel. However, owner Mike Ficco told the New York Post that he's not welcome back to the store.
