Dave Chappelle Says He Wouldn't Bring Back 'Chappelle's Show' For Netflix
"I'm the type of person who doesn't look back," the comedian said.
Netflix has been known to pay Dave Chappelle millions of dollars for his work. The streaming service gave him $60 million back in 2016 for a three-special deal. But no amount of money could ever make the comedian bring back his seminal Chappelle's Show.

During a stand-up comedy show in San Francisco, Chappelle fielded questions from the audiences, with one attendee asking him if he'd ever revive the popular TV series if Netflix offered him money to do so.
Per the San Francisco Chronicle:
When asked whether he’d return to “Chappelle’s Show” if Netflix offered him the money, he replied with a blunt “No.” He went on to explain that, with Charlie Murphy dead and how things were left with Comedy Central, which aired the series, it wouldn’t be the same. It’s also a matter of principle, as Netflix isn’t the network that owes him money.“I’m the type of person who doesn’t look back,” Chappelle said.
According to the Chronicle, Chappelle will also be performing at a benefit for 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang. (The comedian has yet to endorse Yang.)
Back in 2017, Chappelle spoke with Gayle King about why he left his beloved show.
“I was talkin’ to a guy… he basically said to me that comedy is a reconciliation of paradox, and I think that was an irreconcilable moment for me,” the comedian previously said. “That I was in this very successful place, but the emotional content of it didn’t feel anything like what I imagined success should feel like. It just didn’t feel right.”
In related news, comedian John Mulaney recently recounted how he was tasked with fielding the phone call where Chappelle had "went missing" to South Africa. Mulaney was a temp assistant at Comedy Central at the time, and had to tell execs that Chappelle had left.
