Will Smith Jokes About Oscars Slap On TikTok
Will Smith seemingly alluded to his infamous Oscars slap on TikTok, picking up his Academy Award and wondering what it thinks of him.
Will Smith is rolling with the punches on TikTok. As pointed out by Entertainment Weekly, the Academy Award-winning actor took part in a TikTok duet with user Sam Rossi a.k.a. 'Miss Money Working.' In the video, Rossi discusses the benefits of asking an inanimate object what it thinks of you, because – according to her caption – "everything has consciousness."
"You can pick up a pen and ask it how it sees you or what it thinks of you," she says. "And you will get an answer in your mind from your intuition. You can ask your car what it thinks of you, you can even ask money what it thinks of you."
Reaching off-camera, Smith grabs his golden Oscar for Best Actor, which he earned last year for his portrayal of Richard Williams in sports biopic, King Richard. He begins to say something when the video abruptly ends.
Prior to Smith receiving the award, presenter and comedian Chris Rock joked about Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head onstage, referring to the actress as a contender for G.I. Jane 2. Smith, who briefly laughed, approached the stage to slap Rock, before returning to his seat and shouting expletives at the stand-up comic.
The Emancipation actor has gone on to publicly apologize for the incident several times, releasing a four-minute video to social media last summer with his regrets.
"I am deeply remorseful, and I'm trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself," Smith said at the time. "I'm human, and I made a mistake, and I'm trying not to think of myself as a piece of s***."
