“With this show, with this music, I’m just trying to make classics" - Donald Glover On 'Atlanta'
Donald Glover is in rarified air these days. The actor, writer, rapper and comedian sometimes known as Childish Gambinois about to see the fruits of years' worth of labor come to life in his new show Atlanta, and come that same week of September, he'll deliver his third studio album, presumably titled Pharos, debuting it a camp-out festival in California's Joshua Tree national park.
And while that may seem like quite the undertaking, attacking from all angles, according to a recent profile on Glover by New York Magazine, it's a logical next step for an artist who, as he puts it, is "just trying to make classics." The profile, written by Rembert Browne, explores the mission statement of Glover's next act(s,) interviewing the multi-hyphenate creative at his brother's Hollywood dwelling. For those looking to peer into the scheme behind the show, it's a must-read. Donald Glover's new show Atlanta premieres September 6th on FX. From September 2nd through the 4th, he'll perform his new album Pharos in Joshua Tree. Hold tight for updates and hit the link to read through the profile piece.
