Wu-Tang Clan's RZA Directed An 'Iron Fist' Episode
Looks like The RZA has some involvement in the forthcoming Iron Fistseries.
In a Facebook Live interview with Extra, Finn Jones (who portrays Danny Rand / Iron Fist) revealed that the Wu-Tang Clan ringleader directed the sixth episode in the superhero show.
"He's a complete dude," Jones said about RZA, while also adding "he has a really good vision of what he wants. He understands the martial arts genre."
The reveal came when a fan asked what would be on Iron Fist's playlist, to which Jones remarked that he had created a playlist of '90s rap music (De La Soul, Jurassic 5, A Tribe Called Quest and, of course, Wu-Tang) that he thought the titular character would listen to.
Several months back, Marvel and Netflix released the first trailer for Iron Fist. The one minute teaser offers a glimpse into the world of Danny Rand, a man that somehow becomes a kung fu master and, ultimately, dawns the name Iron Fist.
Iron Fist, which will debut on Netflix on March 17, serves as the final solo series a part of the Defenders launch that is slated to drop some time this year. Prior to Iron Fist was Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil.
RZA will be performing in New York in February, and Okayplayer wants to give you (yes, you) the opportunity to check him out. The event, which is called RZA & Friends, will be happening at the City Winery on February 18. It is unknown who the "friends" will be for the event, but knowing RZA there are sure to be some standout appearances made throughout the night.
