Bey will be lending his voice to Pacha's Pajamas, an augmented reality children's book. The book is being hailed as the first-of-its-kind, where every illustration in the book becomes animated through the free "Pacha Alive" app included in it. Pacha's Pajamas tells the story of Pacha, a budding Youth Leader who, alongside a group of animals and plants, helps save the planet. The book hopes to teach children about nature while also offering them a healthy alternative to most entertainment made for kids.
"The earth was given as a trust to mankind, so we have a responsibility to look after it, take care of it, treat it with respect because it's a gift from the creator to us," Bey said in a statement. "We're so dependent on the natural world. The natural world is also dependent on us. If we don't treat it right, it's not gonna treat us right either."
The book will also feature the lyrics of 10 award-winning songs in a 2-CD set. The CDs feature over 70 artists including celebrities Cheech Marin, Talib Kweli, and the aforementioned Bey, as well as 30 youth artists.
An IndieGoGo campaign has been made for the book, with its creators hoping to raise $20,000.
Bey and Kweli performed three Halloween shows together as Black Star this year, with fans in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, and San Diego getting to see the two take the stage together.
