YNW Melly Is Now a Suspect in the Murder of a Florida Cop
The rapper is reportedly being linked to the shooting death of deputy Gary Chambliss.
YNW Melly is now a suspect in another killing.
According to a VeroNews report, the 19-year-old, born Jamell Maurice Demons, and his associate Cortlen "YNW Bortlen" Henry are considered suspects in the 2017 shooting death of deputy Gary Chambliss of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department.
Earlier this month, the Florida native, who is currently being held at the Broward County Jail without bail, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection to the shooting of his associates Anthony “YNW Juvy” Williams and Christopher “YNW Sackchaser” Thomas Jr.

“After that shooting in Miramar, our detectives will be following up for possible information in connection to the Garry Chambliss homicide,” head of the Sheriff’s Office’s criminal investigations division Captain Tony Consalo said in a statement.
An unnamed source in the report claims Melly and his cohort YNW Bortlen were at the scene of the deputy shooting.
The Gifford shooting was ignited on Feb. 17, 2017 when someone reportedly standing in a group threw a bottle at a passing car and the car’s driver fired gunshots. Detectives noted that when the other shooters returned fire, Garry was killed.
In 2015, when Melly was 16, he was charged with firing a gun in a group of people near Vero Beach High School. No one was reported shot.
"A couple of months ago, I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system wants to find justice,” the rapper wrote in an Instagram post on Feb. 13 before surrendering to police. “Unfortunately, a lot of rumors and lies are being said. But no worries, God is with me.”
The artist released his latest music video, "Mama Cry" last week. The last post to his Instagram account features a clip of the video with a caption from his management reading, "Melly’s “Mama Cry” visual was originally scheduled to be released today Friday, February 15th. He wanted to always share the visual with his fans and appreciates all of your support."
Melly released his sophomore mixtape, We All Shine featuring collaborations from Kanye West and Fredo Bang in January.
