This 20-Year-Old Baton Rouge Rapper Has the Number One Album in the Country
Embattled Louisiana MC Youngboy Never Broke Again celebrated his 20th birthday and his first #1 album this weekend.
After his release from a Baton Rouge (La.) jail for probation violation, Youngboy Never Broke Again dropped the highly-anticipated AI Youngboy 2 on October 11th. Over the weekend, some impressive first-week numbers came in.
The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, his first #1 release. Its 110,000 album units in the first week are the equivalent of 144 million streams, according to Billboard.
His YouTube numbers are even more impressive. According to ChartData, Youngboy's YouTube videos grabbed 73 million views on the week of October 17th. That number easily doubles the second and third-ranked acts, fellow Baton Rouge native Kevin Gates and Post Malone.
Youngboy's arrest came after a shootout in Florida where an innocent bystander was killed in the crossfire. His girlfriend Kay Marie was struck and hospitalized in the incident. The probation agreement is related to his involvement in a drive-by shooting from 2016.
