zack villere's "sore throat" is a Warm and Warped Daydream
The Louisiana songwriter busts out of the bedroom.
zack villere is on to the next phase.
Following several batches of abbreviated projects, the Louisiana export is readying a follow-up to his 2017 breakout, Little World. And the campaign commences with today's premiere of the warm and warped, "sore throat," a ballad that blends Bon Iver's hushed backwoods r&b with Frank Ocean's masterful melody-crafting.

In a clip for the single, co-directed by the singer and Dan Streit, villere brings the bustle of heavy foot traffic to a crawl in his adopted Los Angeles outpost. Slipping into quiet crevices, or even fashioning his own out of any number of spare rooftops, villere excavates intimacy in a notoriously impersonal town. In a statement delivered via email, villere notes his attempt to "make a fake city within a city," likening the process to "a kid turning his backyard into another planet."
