On Friday, June 21st, one of the hottest underground rappers in hip-hop, Benny the Butcher, will release his new album, Plugs I Met. On the eve of that release, the Griselda-rapper has dropped a new track.
The song is called "Crown for Kings" and it features an appearance from another super MC, Black thought. Billboard premiered the track. The publication talked to Benny about the song and linking with the legendary MC.
When he was asked how he got a verse from Black Thought, Benny said:
The same way: I hit him up. I know from mutual parties that these dudes are tapped in and aware of the music, so it’s not like I’m shooting in the dark. The top-tier artists of the game are always tapped in. That’s why you can see a dude like Drake do a song with a BlocBoy JB. So I tapped in with him and he hit me right back. The joint was fire and the chemistry was crazy.
This follows the release of “18 Wheeler,” which features a verse from Pusha-T. Listen to "Crown for Kings" below.
