J Dilla - "The Doe" (prod. Supa Dave West)
J Dilla's patently percussive vocal delivery gets some shine on the Supa Dave West produced cut "The Doe," off the just dropped Give Em What They Want EP. Recorded in 2001, the wah-ed-out wonder was originally poised to appear on a solo Dilla project, which revolved around the GOAT handpicking a slew of his favorite producers to throw down heat for the unconventional rhymer to spit over. Seasoned donut connoisseurs will recall the bootleg Pay Jay LP, which featured production from top-tier beatsmiths like Pete Rock, Kanye West, Hi-Tek, Questlove, Karriem Riggins and more.
Give Em What They Want will only be a sliver of that madness, packing in three vocal tracks and two instrumentals to give you that sugary sonic fix. We already gave y'all a taste of the EP with the title track a few weeks back, but now its time for the second helping. You can listen to J Dilla and Supa Dave West's "The Doe" below, cop the Give Em What They Want EP via the aptly-named Pay Jay Productions and head over to RappCats to peep their interview with the project's architect-on-hand Supa Dave for some insight into the ambitious endeavor.
