Lil Wayne Is Back With New Track “Grateful”
After some drama that included Lil Wayne aka Lil Tunechi (kinda) announcing his retirement from the rap game, he is back, rather quickly at that. Lil Wayne dropped a new track titled "Grateful" on Tidal as an exclusive. The song features Gudda Gudda and was produced by StreetRunner and Rugah Rah. On the track Wayne takes some not so subliminal shots at Birdman. A few days back Lil Wayne made comments via Twitter that had fans panicking. Wayne wrote, “I am now defenseless and mentally defeated & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun.” Artists such as Flying Lotus, Drake, Chance The Rapper, Missy Elliot, and others offered words of support. Even Kendrick Lamar voiced his dissent to the implication of a Weezy retirement by rapping to some of his songs and posting a video. Watch it here. And then today with a new tweet and post to Instagram Lil Wayne surprised the world with the artwork to a new track, a link to said track, and the words, "New Chapter."
