Stream Raphael Saadiq's First New Album in Eight Years, 'Jimmy Lee'
Raphael Saadiq is back.
Raphael Saadiq has released Jimmy Lee, the singer's first new album since 2011's Stone Rollin.’ The 13-track album is deeply personal for Saadiq: Jimmy Lee is inspired, in part, by his brother’s addiction. (Jimmy Lee is the name of Saadiq’s brother’s who passed away.)
The album features contributions from Kendrick Lamar, Ernest Turner, Rob Bacon, Daniel J. Watts, and more. Last year we spoke to Saadiq about his new album. He told us:
Jimmy Lee, that’s my brother’s name, of course. It just never dawned on me that I never really realized my brother’s situation, or how fatal it was. I started thinking about it, and I just wanted to make an album about it. I have a lot of friends who have similar issues as my brother. He was a really good friend, so I thought maybe it’s time for me to deal with the subject a little bit.
