Robert Glasper Experiment x Emeli Sande- "Somebody Else" [Stream]

Robert Glasper Experiment x Emeli Sande- Somebody Else

Renowned keyboardist and bandleader Robert Glasper has treated us to a new track in "Somebody Else" featuring the lilting vocals of Emeli Sandé, another offering from his upcoming release Black Radio 2. The gifted musician lays down a strong, but sweet rhodes line for the boom-bap drums to take hold of and Emeli to lay down the gentle, yet vibrant vocals the song demands. Coming off an album that promises to have as many collaborations as chord changes, the track boasts some of the better qualities of the genre-demolishing artist's repertoire, including tight snares and synths, missing only the voice-box treatment he gave the rework of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on his last LP (though I'm sure we'll be hearing it soon enough.)

After releasing the video for "Calls" just days ago featuring a soaring vocal treatment from Miss Jill Scott, the impending release promises to feature a slew of hip-hop and R&B's playmakers, including Common, Lupe Fiasco, Marsha Ambrosius, Anthony HamiltonBrandy, and Lalah Hathaway, not to mention  drum work from Mark Colenburg; the most recent addition to the Experiment. All in all, the new effort seems to be an apt follow up to its' Grammy Award winning prequel and we'll have plenty more from the gifted pianist and his most recent roster of cohorts in the coming weeks. Until then, peep "Somebody Else" below.
