With new projects from Gucci Mane, Lil Yachty and Bryson Tiller stacking you timelines, it might be a little difficult to remember that the week was not just one extended build-up to yet another celebration of Atlanta's continued dominance (somehow still growing by the day.) Which is where we step in. Cause it can get a little difficult to spot a good one when the industry basically lives in the shadow of the Southern hub. A silhouette I'm convinced can only be of Big Boi and 3 Stacks in a Cadillac or the Mothership itself. Either way, the week was more than 808s, styrofoam cups and 90s r&b flips.
Washed Out reemerged with an irresistible new groove. Kali Uchis returned with a touch of island sun on her single "Tyrant" (featuring the lovely Jorja Smith.) BADBADNOTGOOD stepped into blond(e)d territory with their first offering since last year's IV. A.K. Paul made a rare appearance on a very purple ballad from HIRA. Internet-approved "Cool" kid, Zack Villere, went medium-viral with his bubbly new cut, while Detroit's own Dilla disciple, Young RJ, connected with master-turned-student Pete Rockon his rugged-and-raw new joint. All these things and so much more can be heard in what is perhaps the meatiest installment of The Round-Up to date, standing 29 tracks tall and packed to the brim with summer footwork fodder.
