Listen to Will Smith Brag About His Legacy on Logic's ' "Don't Be Afraid To Be Different"

Will Smith can still rap.

Way back in 1989, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff took home the first-ever Grammy award for a rap performance for their track "Parents Just Don't Understand." Beyond this milestone, Smith has been nominated for a total of eight Grammys and has won four of those, although his time in hip-hop is often overshadowed by his acting career. He hasn't released an album of his own in over a decade but has made guest appearances on other artists' projects.

He just contributed a verse to Logic's latest album Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which dropped on Friday (May 10th). The album also features appearances from Eminem, Gucci Mane, YBN Cordae, and more.

The song is called "Don't Be Afraid To Be Different" and the song opens with Smith seemingly delving into a new take on the classic The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air verse but instead he leans into an explicative and flips his topic entirely to look back on his time in hip-hop:

"Came in the game on my neon fresh / Won the first rap Grammy so I guess I'm blessed / Come off tours, walk on sets / Everybody followin' the trends I set," he reflects. The rest of Smith's verse contains shoutouts to Logic's fanbase, the RattPack, and his son Jaden's creative brand, MSFTS. He's also sure to cover his bases of the modern media landscape, mentioning his "IG popping from doing it different" and "Fortnite doin' the Carlton dance."
