A 2 Live Crew Movie Based on Luke Campbell's Book is in Works

This Friday, All Eyez on Me, the Tupac biopic, finally hits theaters.

If that news doesn't excite you, you're probably going to hate the next couple of years. Because we're in the middle of a rapper biopic boom. From Outkastto Master P,every week we get a rumor that a new biopic pic is coming soon.

A Donald Trump Party Was Too Wild For Even 2 Live Crew's Uncle Luke

Earlier this week, news of a hip-hop biopic that isn't a rumor hit the streets: the production company Lionsgate, who is behind All Eyez on me, is working on a2 Live Crew biopic.

The movie will be based on group leader Luke Campbell's 2015 biography The Book of Luke: My Fight for Truth, Justice, and Liberty City. That book tells the story of the group's rise and the controversy swirling around the their 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be, which was deemed obscene by a federal judge, before it got overturned in appeals court.

2 Live Crew was made up of Luke Campbell, Mr. Mixx, and Brother Marquis. Campbell is still the most visible member of the group. RJ Cyler, the actorwho played the blue power ranger in the latest Power Ranger movie, will play Campbell.
