Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Names Her Top 5 Rappers of All Time With Fat Joe

Two of the Bronx's finest talked politics, COVID-19, and more.

On Thursday night, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined Fat Joe on Instagram Live session. For nearly an hour, the two discussed politics, their native Bronx, and more.

On a lighter note, the conversation turned to hip-hop when Joe asked AOC about her top five MCs.  For the sake of objectivity, Joe excluded himself from the list. Unsurprisingly, her list had a heavy Bronx influence. Watch the full broadcast above.

"Not in order--Nas, Big Pun is up there, of course, we've got Biggie...of course we've got Tupac...the fifth one is so hard." After a brief pause, she chose KRS-ONE to round out the top five.

"You have a mean starting five, yo," Joe admitted. "I didn't know I liked you this much!"

Ocasio-Cortez serves as U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district. In June 2018, she defeated 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley. The victory was the biggest upset in 2018's midterm primaries. After defeating Republican Anthony Pappas, she became the youngest woman to ever serve in the United States Congress. Additionally, she is one of the first members of the Democratic Socialists of America elected to Congress.

During her term, Ocasio-Cortez has utilized social media like few other politicians. She is an outspoken advocate for Medicare For All, the Green New Deal, and abolishing the controversial U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
