Andre 3000 Just Added Another Role To His Acting Resume
Andre 3000 has joined the cast of a forthcoming A24 film titled Showing Up.
After hitting the small screen with AMC's 2020 Dispatches from Elsewhere series, Andre 3000 is about to make his return to the big screen.
In a report from Deadline, the Outkast MC has joined the cast of a forthcoming A24 film titled Showing Up. Aside from the 3000, the cast also includes Hong Chau, Judd Hirsch, Maryann Plunkett, John Magaro, Heather Lawless, Amanda Plummer, Larry Fessenden, James Le Gros, and Michelle William. The film is written by Kelly Reichardt.
According to Deadline, Showing Up "is a vibrant and sharply funny portrait of an artist on the verge of a career-changing exhibition. As she navigates family, friends and colleagues in the lead-up to her show, the chaos of life becomes the inspiration for great art."
Showing Up isn't the first film 3000 has done that's being released under A24. He also appeared in the 2018 film High Life, which was distributed by A24. In that movie, 3000 portrayed Tcherny, who is a part of a group of death row inmates offered a chance to serve society through a series of interstellar experiments.
A couple years ago, High Life director Claire Denis explained how 3000 ended up appearing in her film.
“I always liked André 3000,” the 72-year-old director said. “I always liked Outkast, and I had this idea, if one day I do a film in english and I can cast american people I would like to meet André Benjamin and ask him.”
Showing Up doesn't have a release date yet.
