Philadelphia Councilwoman Helen Gym has introduced a bill that would denounce Kelly and won't give him a platform in Philadelphia.

"If you're a rapist or a child molester, you're not welcome in Philadelphia," Gym said according to a report from NBC 10. "I think we live at an incredible moment in time where we are no longer accepting the protection of powerful men at the expense of women."

The resolution will be voted on by the entire city council next week.

Kelly's sexual assault allegations have resurfaced following the release of the Lifetime documentary series Surviving R. Kelly. The docuseries featured interviews with over 50 people about Kelly, many of whom were women who detailed the artist’s alleged long history of sexual, physical, and mental abuse.

Since the series' release, Kelly has been dropped by Sony and is under a criminal investigation opened by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office in Georgia. investigators have reached out to several survivors featured in the TV docuseries. It's been confirmed that investigators reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who claimed to have escaped captivity in R. Kelly's Atlanta home, where more women and girls are alleged to still be held.
