Burna Boy Reunites Naughty By Nature on New Album 'Twice as Tall'

Naughty by Nature hadn't released new music since 2011.

On Friday, Nigerian MC Burna Boy dropped his fifth studio album, Twice as Tall. The album's seventh track, "Naughty By Nature," features a special treat for East Coast hip-hop heads as the New Jersey MCs of the track's namesake appear for the first time in years.

Burna spoke with Apple Music about the inspiration behind the track and what Naughty By Nature meant to him as a child.

"Growing up they were definitely one of my favorite groups," he said. "I literally grew up listening to these man, so it might sound crazy or impossible to have them on my album all this time later, but I swear to you: nothing is really impossible. Even right now with all this COVID stuff going, there's a way. If you really wanna make something happen, then there's always a way to it. Trust me, it's not impossible."

Diddy served as the album's executive producer, co-producing "Naughty by Nature" along with Mario Winans and Telz.

Over the years, the group went through multiple breakups and reconciliations after disputes over finances. Earlier this year, the group released a remix of their hit single "Hip-Hop Hooray" with Rita Wilson for the MusiCares Foundation's COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The group toured alongside Salt-N-Pepa, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, and New Kids on the Block as part of the Mixtape Tour as recently as May 2019.

Burna Boy's Twice as Tall album is available for streaming on all major digital streaming platforms. Stream "Naughty By Nature" below.
