Cardi B Becomes First Female Rapper With Multiple Solo Billboard No. 1 Records
Cardi B celebrated the accomplishment on Instagram.
Earlier this month, Cardi B made history by becoming the first female rapper with an RIAA-certified Diamond single. Her breakout hit, "Bodak Yellow," has sold over 10 million copies. On Monday, Cardi celebrated another historic accomplishment. Her latest single "Up" hit the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first female rapper with multiple chart-topping Billboard singles.
"I want God to come see me in my dreams when I take my nap today," Cardi wrote on Instagram on Monday afternoon. "So I can kiss his feet and tell him how much I love him! I got no words. Actually I got a lot of words but I can't type it all!"
The new single beat out Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak)'s debut single "Leave the Door Open," Olivia Rodrigo's "Driver's License," and Drake's "What's Next" for the top spot. The Weeknd's record-setting After Hours album is still holding on strong, taking up the next two spots with "Save Your Tears" and "Blinding Lights." Dua Lipa and DaBaby's "Levitating" comes in at the seventh spot, while 24kGoldn and iann dior's "Mood" comes in at number eight. Ariana Grande's "34 + 35" and Drake and Lil' Baby's "Wants and Needs" round out the top ten.
"Up" is Cardi's fifth number-one Billboard single. Previously, "Bodak Yellow," "Girls Like You," and I Like It," her collaborations with Maroon 5, Bad Bunny & J Balvin, peaked atop the Billboard charts.
