There have been numerous documentaries centered around the death of The Notorious B.I.G. Now, this fall, a feature film about the murder is being released.

The movie is called City of Lies and stars Johnny Depp, who plays detective Russell Poole. He is teaming up with reporter Jack Jackson, who is played by Forest Whitaker, to try and crack who killed The Notorious B.I.G. At one point, in the trailer, you see Poole say "A murder like that only goes unsolved if the police don't want to solve it."

The movie is based on the 2003 book LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records' Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal, written by veteran journalist Randall Sullivan. The movie was directed by Brad Furman, who shot The Lincoln Lawyer and The Infiltrator.
City of Lies comes out on September 7. Watch the first trailer below.
