DaBaby Arrested on Battery Charges, Faces Outstanding Warrant in Texas
Before the incident in Miami on Thursday, the victim allegedly shorted him on concert fees.
It seems DaBaby has some more legal trouble to attend to. On Thursday afternoon around 12:30, cameras captured Miami police detaining the Charlotte rapper for questioning. According to multiple reports, the arrest warrant revealed that DaBaby (Johnathan Kirk) was held for beating a music promoter in regards to payment for a performance. While in police custody, officers discovered that DaBaby also has an outstanding warrant for an incident in Texas.
In the video, three men attack one victim and attempt to remove his pants. Cars swerve around the men before they leave in a black SUV. As they attempt to finally leave the scene, one man jumps out the back of the vehicle and delivers one last blow. According to the police report, Kirk allegedly took $80, an iPhone 7, and a credit card before dousing the victim with apple juice. The incident started when the promoter underpaid DaBaby $20,000 for a concert--$10,000 short of the agreed-upon price. His bond is set at $1,500.
The warrant in Texas stemmed from a previous incident that occurred in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. Allegedly, DaBaby and a member of his entourage attacked an employee working at a food stand. TMZ has obtained a brief video of the last moments of that incident.
Just last week, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police cited DaBaby for marijuana possession after a Christmas concert. The department is currently investigating the terms of the search to see if officers followed proper protocol.
