Dave Chappelle already boasts a notable resume: comedian, actor, and writer of his own television series. And once upon a time Chappelle almost added video game writer to that list too.

In a video recently uploaded by Game Brain (via Screen Rant), Christopher Stockman, the former design director on THQ's 2006 Saints Row video game, talked about how THQ approached Chappelle about writing for the series.
Although the video primarily focuses on Saints Row and the comparisons it received to the Grand Theft Auto series, the reveal involving Chappelle comes around the 6:55 mark, when Stockman says that THQ fired a writer working on Saints Row and wanted to go with a "Dave Chappelle-type or a celebrity type to lend their creative weight and writing style."
"He wanted to have full control of the game...Initially yeah, it was gonna be a Dave Chappelle game," Stockman said. "It got to like any sort of discussions it was like 'It has to be my game, it has to be Dave Chappelle's game' and then we were like 'No, that's not gonna work.'"
Considering the game's debut in 2006 it makes sense that THQ approached Chappelle. By then, the comedian's seminal TV series Chappelle's Show was a commercial and critical hit, even though he had left it by 2006.
Recently, it was announced that Chappelle is embarking on a short tour with fellow comedic heavyweight Jon Stewart.
