Warning: Spider-Man: No Way Home spoilers ahead.
MCU fans first got a look at the Multiverse of Madness in a post-credits scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the teaser, Maximoff alludes to the ending of Disney+ series Wandavision by apologizing to Doctor Strange for wreaking havoc on the residents of Westview in order to save her husband, Vision, after he was destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. However, its Strange who obliges Maximoff, offering to team up with the sorceress in an attempt to control the multiverse.
“The Multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little,” Strange says during the teaser's opening. “It was the only way, but I never meant for any of this to happen.”
Since the conclusion of No Way Home, the Doctor Strange teaser examines multiversial oddities, including a sinister version of Doctor Strange. For Disney+ fans, Multiverse of Madness will also be a refresher of shows WandaVision and Loki, which Inverse rumors that the 'God of Mischief' will appear alongside variant Sylvie in the film.
The teaser hints that Doctor Strange will be joined by Mordo, sidekick Wong (Benedict Wong) and newcomer America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). The film will also be directed by Sam Raimi, who makes his return to Marvel Studios after directing the Spider-Man trilogy.
Multiverse of Madness will release in theaters on May 6, 2022.
