Known as The Donald, the subreddit was initially created as an offshoot of The_Donald, another subreddit dedicated to Trump, according to a report from Polygon. The former, which boasts over 16,000 members, was made just in case the latter ever went down and has since turned into a meme posting subreddit that often targets Trump. Recently, however, the subreddit has become a place for Glover fans to voice their support and admiration of the multi-talented creative.
"The Sub has embraced its true purpose, celebrating the best Donald there is," a user by the name of MetalsDeadAndSoAmI wrote. "He's beautiful. He's talented. He doesn’t talk soft (that's that other guy). He's crass. He says whats on his mind. He rose from practically nothing. The great Don Glover. Amen."
Just a quick scroll through the subreddit and the past several hours of posts have been dedicated to the "This Is America" creator.
Now, how was the subreddit taken over by a group of Glover fans in the first place? As this user suggests:
"The single mod has basically abandoned this sub, I doubt he'll ever be back to do any actual moderating. I'm just hoping he's inactive for another 40 days (he's been inactive for 20 so far) so we can request a subreddit takeover, but that will likely not happen."
Since the Glover takeover actual Trump supporters as well as those that align with him on Reddit, have spoken out against the posts.
The Donald subreddit may or may not end up actually becoming a Glover subreddit. But even if it doesn't at least there was this incredible moment that took place.
