Erykah Badu is Returning as Summer Walker's Doula

Erykah Badu may have accidentally announced that Summer Walker is having twins, as the artist is Walker's doula for a second time.

Erykah Badu might have accidentally slipped the news that Summer Walker is expecting twins. With the help of her eldest daughter, Puma Curry, Badu is a second-time doula to Walker, who had her daughter, affectionately known as 'Bubbles' in March 2021. Walker's first child is shared with veteran Memphis producer London on da Track.

In a recent Instagram post, Badu seemingly confirmed the news of twins, writing, “Peace peace .. MEET THE WELCOMING COMITTEE [sic]. Mother – Daughter DOULA duty. Today I am training a very capable doula who is shadowing me while we assist a mommy in labor with twins. @pumacurry I’m so proud of u and I really really like you.”

During an Instagram Live session in June, Walker revealed that she was expecting her second delivery.

“People asking me if I’m pregnant… I am and you know I’m very, very, very, very, happy about it. Very excited about it. And this is gonna be… I’m very very excited because it’s going to be different from how it was before. It’s really peaceful, really happy, lots of help, lots of love.”

Although Walker released her sophomore album Still Over It last November, she received her first Grammy nomination as a feature alongside Ghostface Killah on "Purple Hearts" from Kendrick Lamar's fifth album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. Jumping into the holiday season, Walker's label LVRN has released her previously-recorded cover of "Santa Baby" from their Home for the Holidays compilation.
