Here’s A First Look At the Erykah Badu Marni Collection
Erykah Badu & Francesco Risso co-design a limited-edition Marni capsule collection, featuring footwear, clothing, and accessories.
Fresh off the 2023 Met Gala, Erykah Badu has given a first look at her inaugural Marni capsule collection. Co-designed by Badu and Marni creative director Francesco Risso, the limited-edition capsule includes women’s ready-to-wear clothing, footwear, and accessories. As the first drop of the luxury brand’s Fall/Winter Vol.1 collection, the capsule is available in select U.S. Marni boutiques, with European retail locations and multi-brand shops later in the season.
“The inspiration was silhouettes — it started with my 1997 silhouette, the towering head wrap and patchwork materials, patches and pieces and homemade things, because I didn't work in fashion a lot,” Badu recently told The Zoe Report. “I didn't really even know a lot of designers. I worked with people I knew and creatives and designers that were young and upcoming and could help me to see my vision through, or for me to be a muse for their creation.”
Modeling the multicolored capsule in promotional images along with Badu is Seven Sirius Benjamin, the singer’s son with André 3000, and Puma Curry, Badu’s daughter with The D.O.C. With campaign shots taken in Badu’s hometown of Dallas, Texas, the Marni capsule was also previewed in Badu’s recent Vogue cover story.
