Here's Why Will Smith Avoided Watching Chris Rock's Netflix Special
A source in connection to Will Smith shared with Entertainment Tonight that the actor refused to watch Chris Rock's stand-up special.
Chris Rockhas now gotten a response from Will Smith. Just days after the premiere of Rock's Netflix stand-up special, Selective Outrage, a source from Smith's camp said that the Emancipation actor refused to watch.
“Will is embarrassed and hurt by what Chris said about him and his family in his Netflix special. He didn’t watch it, but he had people tell him what Chris said," a source told Entertainment Tonight about the aftermath of the special. "It’s everywhere when you look online and on social media, so Will and Jada have seen comments about it."
The source says that Smith is "upset" that Netflix gave Rock the platform to air out his grievances.
"Will is also upset that Netflix was a part of this and thinks Chris insulting Jada again is below the belt," the source added. "He is upset that Netflix gave Chris this platform to share these messages and thinks it’s distasteful."
According to a source from Rock's camp, the 58-year-old is ready to move on from directly addressing the slap.
"He said everything he wanted to say," the source told ET. "It was funny, self-deprecating, and thought-provoking. Now, "Chris is ready to move on."
First responding to Rock's special was a source in connection to Jada Pinkett Smith, the actress also being the target of a joke from the comic during the 2022 Oscars.
“Jada has had no part in all of this other than being heckled,” the source told People. “Chris is obsessed with her and that’s been going on for almost 30 years. Look where he chose to film his Netflix special. Her hometown [of Baltimore]. Obsessed.”
