Jay Pharoah Shares Footage of LAPD Kneeling on His Neck During Recent Arrest
"I could have easily been an Ahmaud Arbery or a George Floyd."
Saturday Night Live alum, Jay Pharoah, has shared the details of his recent arrest by LAPD.
In an emotionally-charged Instagram video posted on Friday evening, Pharoah recounted how he was jogging in Los Angeles, when a group of four or five officers approached him with guns already drawn, claiming Pharoah matched the description of "a black man wearing grey sweatpants." He goes on to flash scenes from a security camera that captured the incident, clearly depicting an officer kneeling on his neck during the arrest. Pharoah was set free once he asked the officers to google his name.
In a clip from an upcoming episode of The Talk (slated to air on Monday,) Pharoah tells the hosts "It could have easily turned into another situation if I wasn’t who I am. And the point here is being black in America, is just that, being black in America. Other people can’t level with the same fears I have."
