Jimmy Kimmel breaks down the decisions he made during his Kanye West interview
A couple of weeks ago, Kanye West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! One of the most striking moments in the 20-minute interview was when host Jimmy Kimmel asked Kanye: ”George Bush doesn’t care about black people.’ It makes me wonder, what makes you think that Donald Trump does?”
The rapper went silent. And Kimmel went to commercial break and didn't bring the topic up again. Kanye West later went to Twitter and disputed that the question "stumped" him.

On Wednesday, August 22nd, the Daily Beast published an interview with Kimmel. One of the things they spoke about was what happened during that interview.
Kimmel was asked what he was thinking when he saw that Kanye couldn't answer the question. The comedian said:
Well, I think Kanye is kind of in a perpetual state of being interviewed and he shares his thoughts constantly. So the idea that he needed to come up with the answer right there on the spot isn’t necessarily something I agree with. I think he doesn’t feel the same type of pressure that most people feel in a situation like that. And I think it’s a question that I hope he will answer eventually. But to force an answer out of somebody isn’t necessarily the way to go.
Kimmel went on to say that the reason he went to commercial at that moment is that the segment was supposed to be eight minutes and they were already at 10.

Kimmell could have brought the question up again, after the break. But he didn't. When asked about the decision, Kimmel said:
It wasn’t necessarily a conscious decision. I felt that his silence answered the question in some ways. And I also know that if Kanye wanted to continue on a subject then he is not shy about continuing on that subject. I also had a lot of areas I wanted to cover. I didn’t want to spend the whole interview on one thing.
