Fresh off the rousing success of Lovecraft Country, Jonathan Majors has scored another major role. On Monday, Deadline reported Majors has landed the role of Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming Ant-Man 3 movie.
Majors will star alongside returning Ant-Man cast members Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily. Peyton Reed, who directed the first two chapters, will return to direct the sequel, along with Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige and screenwriter Jeff Loveness.
Kang the Conqueror is regarded as one of the Marvel Universe's greater enemies. The character is a time traveler who uses advanced technology to rule the future of the Marvel Universe. IGN recently speculated on the character's role in the wake of the Phase 3-ending film Avengers: Endgame.
Most recently, Jonathan Majors starred in Spike Lee's latest film on Netflix, Da 5 Bloods. Shortly after Da 5 Bloods hit the streaming service, Lovecraft Country took off on HBO. Prior to his hot streak in 2020, Majors played the leading role in the critically-acclaimed The Last Black Man in San Francisco. The film earned him a Gotham Award nomination for Breakthrough Actor, and a Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male.
Majors will also star as the outlaw Nat Love in the upcoming Netflix Western movie The Harder They Fall. Idris Elba, Lakeith Stanfield, Regina King, Idris Elba, and Zazie Beetz will also appear in the film, which will be co-produced by Jay-Z and British musician Jeymes Samuel, also known as the Bullitts.
