Kanye West Says "I Know How It Feels To Have A Knee On My Neck Now" Amid Deal Losses

In a 16-minute clip recorded on Saturday, Kanye West responded to the backlash from his recent anti-semitic statements.

Kanye West is feeling the brunt of his recent antisemitic statements. On Saturday, the Donda 2 artist was filmed in a 16-minute clip talking to paparazzi and bystanders, explaining that he "didn't realize" his remarks were offensive to Jewish people. Now known as Ye, he also spoke about losing deals with Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga and more.

“I feel like this is God humbling me right now,” he said. “Because there’s two things that are happening. A lot of times when I would say ‘I am the richest Black man,’ it would be a defense that I would use for the mental health conversation. …What’s happening right now is I’m being humbled.”

The Yeezy founder also went on to address his controversial statements about George Floyd on Drink Champs. The episode, where Ye suggested that Floyd died from a fentanyl overdose, has since been pulled after backlash on social media.

“When the idea of Black Lives Matter came out, it made us come together as a people,” he said. “So, I said that, and I questioned the death of George Floyd, it hurt my people. It hurt the Black people. So, I want to apologize to hurting them [sic] because right now God has shown me by what Adidas is doing, and by what the media is doing, I know how it feels to have a knee on my neck now. So I thank you God, for humbling me and letting me know how it really felt. Because how could the richest Black man ever be humbled other than to be made to not be a billionaire in front of everyone off of a comment?”

Elsewhere in the clip, a person asked Ye if he was concerned about the possiblity of ruining his legacy, to which the multi-hyphenate creative denied.

“I’m just not worried. Period," he said. "God is alive."

In his closing remarks, Ye declared that he has "no association to any hate group" and proceeded to end his speech in prayer. “If any hate happens upon any Jewish person, it is not associated [gestures to himself] because I am demanding that everyone walk in love.”

With a net worth of $500 million, Ye ranks at No. 3 on the 2022 list of hip-hop’s wealthiest artists, behind JAY-Z and Diddy.
