Kenan Thompson Is Very Happy He Didn't Go Onstage For Kanye West's 'SNL' Trump Rant
"He voiced his opinion. Very loudly. For a long time," the comedian told Seth Meyers.
Kenan Thompson made an appearance on former Saturday Night Live star Seth Meyer's Late Night, where he talked about Kanye West's now-infamous pro-Trump rant.
"I did my part in the monologue, and I got to watch the circus unfold," The Emmy-winning comedian told Meyers. "He voiced his opinion. Very loudly. For a long time. We're all entitled to our opinion, I don't know if that's the moment, necessarily, to hold people hostage like that."
Upon being asked by Meyers if he was happy that he didn't oblige to going back onstage with West as the credits rolled, Thompson said "For sure," before speaking more on the off-air incident.
"As soon as he said, 'Hey join me up on stage, everybody.' I was like, 'Oh, there goes the little cheese in the mousetrap. It's going down,'" Thompson said. "I felt so bad for those guys, because it's hard to stand there and not be able to debate somebody who is going so far against your personal opinion, and just stand there and take it."
Since his SNL appearance, West has since changed the release date of his forthcoming new album Yandhi. The album will now drop on November 23 according to a tweet from Kim Kardashian.
