After nearly a year of anticipation, Killer Mike makes his debut in the second half of the series' fourth and final season. Last June, the rapper spoke exclusively with Billboard to reveal his Ozark cameo, “I went from waiting to find out what happens next to being part of it … I’m excited, ” he said.
In a new clip, the Ozark teases a scene where protagonist Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) runs into the Run the Jewels rapper at a diner. While encountering Mike, Langmore is also listening to 1994 Nas classic "N.Y. State of Mind" and the two begin to interpret the song's meaning.
"What you bumping?" Mike asks before taking Langmore's earphones and listening for himself, nodding in unison with the beat and offering the earphones back.
"It always feels to me like he hates it and misses it all at once. And he's only f****** 20." Langmore says, referring to Nas' Queensbridge origins.
"You know, when I listen to that record, his projects are in Queens and you can kinda see Manhattan. I've always thought it was so hopeful and f****** cruel at the same time" Mike responds.
"You ever wonder if he'd try that record if it meant not having to go through all that s***?" Langmore asks.
"If you've gotta ask the question," Mike concludes.
Ozark returns for its final episodes on Friday, April 29th at 3 AM ET. 30-minute special A Farewell to Ozark will also be available to stream on Netflix.
