Lena Waithe Takes Center Stage in First 'Master of None' Season 3 Trailer
Lena Waithe will star in a special five-episode season for the Netflix original.
On Monday, Netflix released the first trailer for the new season of its critically-acclaimed series Master of None. Created by Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang, the series' 2017 "Thanksgiving" episode starring Lena Waithe won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. For the newest season, Moments in Love, the show will focus on Waithe's character Denise and her wife Alicia (played by BAFTA winner Naomi Ackie). Check out the trailer below.
"This new season is a modern love story," a press release reads, "that intimately illustrates the ups and downs of marriage, struggles with fertility, and personal growth both together and apart. Fleeting romantic highs meet crushing personal losses while existential questions of love and living are raised. Denise and her wife, Alicia, take center stage this season, grappling with doubts and heartache when a rift emerges in their happy marriage."
The show has been on hiatus since 2017. In the meantime, Waithe created the Showtime original drama The Chi, BET's Boomerang and Twenties, as well as the 2020 film Queen and Slim. Waithe also executive produced Amazon Prime Video's series Them. Her Emmy for Outstanding Writing for Master of None made her the first Black woman to win an Emmy for the category.
The season will be five episodes, each of which will hit the Netflix library on May 23rd. Stay tuned for further updates on Lena Waithe and Master of None.
