LeVar Burton Says Goodbye to 'Jeopardy!,' Set to Host Trivial Pursuit Game Show
On the upcoming project from eOne, LeVar Burton said: "I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television."
LeVar Burton is set to host another televised game show rather than Jeopardy.
eOne TV and the actor’s LeVar Burton Entertainment are working to develop a TV game show adaptation of the staple Trivial Pursuit. Burton will host and exec produce the forthcoming project.
You may remember all the hoopla surrounding him hosting Jeopardy permanently, his name was floated for the role. Following a guest stint, during an interview with Trevor Noah of The Daily Show, he shared he was looking for the correct game show for him to host. He also was sure to say thanks to his fans who'd supported him throughout his career and in recent years.
Burton said the following on the project:
“Trivial Pursuit is one of the best-known brands in the gaming universe. I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television.”
Tara Long, President, Global Unscripted Television, eOne released the following statement per Deadline, “LeVar Burton has been an iconic member of American pop culture for decades from Roots to Reading Rainbow to Star Trek and beyond. His love for intellectual curiosity paired with his ability to connect with audiences worldwide make him the perfect partner.”
Trivial Pursuit ran as a television show back in 1993 and 1994, it was brought to life by The Family Channel (now Freeform). In 2008/2009 another version Trivial Pursuit: America Plays ran.
