Lil Nas X Teases BET Diss Track Following Awards Snub
After being left out of the BET Awards 2022 nominations, Lil Nas X has teased a diss track toward the network, which it has since responded to.
Lil Nas X is doubling down on his criticism of BET. Last week, the network revealed their nominations for the BET Awards 2022, which excluded the rapper from their categories. Hill performed the "Old Town Road" remix with Billy Ray Cyrus, as well as "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" during the BET Awards 2019 and 2022, respectively. In the latter performance, Hill made out with a backup dancer onstage, which garnered mixed reactions from viewers.
On Twitter last week, X called out the network in now-deleted tweets saying, “thank you bet awards. an outstanding zero nominations again,” sarcastically adding “black excellence!” On Tuesday, the rapper went even further on Twitter, teasing a diss track and upcoming collaboration with YoungBoy Never Broke Again. "F*** BET," he repeats in the first clip, rapping, “I put like three up in the Top Ten/And I don’t need nobody.”

The rapper also responded to fans with his gripes about BET.

BET has since responded in a statement, per Deadline:
"We love Lil Nas X. He was nominated for a Best New Artist BET Award in 2020, and we proudly showcased his extraordinary talent and creativity on the show twice: he performed 'Old Town Road' with Billy Ray Cyrus at 'BET Awards' 2019 and his 'BET Awards' 2021 performance was a highlight of our show. No one cheered louder that night than BET.
Unfortunately, this year, he was not nominated by BET’s Voting Academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of nearly 500 entertainment professionals in the fields of music, television, film, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts. No one from BET serves as a member of the Voting Academy.
At BET, we are passionate advocates for the wonderful diversity that exists within our community. We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community."
Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the BET Awards 2022 will be held on Sunday, June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air live at 8 PM ET and delayed at 8 PM PT.
