Live Nation to Pause All Scheduled Events Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

The announcements will affect Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Cher, and more.

Amidst growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, Live Nation is planning to cancel its upcoming shows. The company told employees that it will be postponing current touring shows through the end of the month. Additionally, Live Nation is advising employees to work remotely.

Live Nation currently works with pop stars like Shakira, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, and more. The company owns and manages several venues across the globe. The company acquired a stake in Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and sponsors Atlanta's Music Midtown and Philadelphia's Roots Picnic Festival. Jay-Z signed a 10-year deal with the company in 2017.

The news comes just days after Austin music festival South By Southwest announced the cancellation of its 2020 festival. Disneyland Resort will close its parks beginning March 14, and its hotels starting March 16. The National Basketball Association has indefinitely suspended its regular season, while the National Collegiate Athletic Association canceled remaining men's and women's basketball tournaments on Thursday.

According to Billboard, Live Nation is not planning to make any layoffs. The company's headquarters in Beverly Hills will remain closed for the rest of the month of March. A Live Nation executive told Billboard that the company will re-evaluate their plans beginning in April. With a satisfactory outcome, tours could resume as early as May. Provided conditions return to normal, Bonnaroo, one of the company's most famous festivals, will take place on June 11-14.
