Lupe Fiasco is Performing 'The Cool' Album in its Entirety at Riot Fest
Lupe Fiasco returns to the festival stage to do his entire sophomore album.
Back in November 2019, Lupe Fiasco gave his hometown of Chicago a special performance of his 2006 debut album Food & Liquor for the Red Bull Music Festival. Nearly two years later, he'll return with another show: this time, doing his sophomore effort The Cool for Chicago's Riot Fest. The show goes on September 16-18th at Douglass Park.
Other guests at the festival include Run the Jewels, Vic Mensa, Nine Inch Nails, and the Smashing Pumpkins. Tickets start at $155, and are on sale now at Eventbrite.
The Cool peaked at number-one on Billboard's United States Rap Albums chart, staying atop the charts for nine weeks and selling over 500,000 copies domestically. The album was certified Gold and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. At the time of its release, Lupe revealed that there were plans to create a horror-themed radio show spinoff of the album, as well as a comic book.
In December 2020, Lupe revealed that fans would be required to get vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to attend his future shows. All Riot Fest attendees are encouraged to receive a vaccine, however, the festival's website does not currently list vaccines as a requirement. However, Riot Fest warns potential attendees that by attending, "you voluntarily assume any and all risks related to exposure to COVID-19."
My Chemical Romance and the Original Misfits will perform "Walk Among Us" at Riot Fest. Lineups and other event information is subject to change.
