Anthony Mackie Will Star in Marvel's Next Captain America Movie
Anthony Mackie will star in the next Captain America movie. Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner, Malcolm Spellman, is reportedly behind the project.
Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson will be getting his very own film as the new Captain America.
According to Deadline, Mackie has closed a deal to star in the fourth Captain America film. The movie is in development from Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner, Malcolm Spellman. Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, will also be in the movie.
According to a report from April, Mackie's run as Captain America will be separate from another upcoming Marvel film in which Chris Evans is slated to reprise his role as Steve Rogers. Details are slim at the moment, but it seems Evans' return to the MCU won't be as a focal point in another franchise, but as a likely cameo a la Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in Spiderman: Homecoming.
Much like Wandavision, its critically-lauded predecessor, Falcon and The Winter Soldier covers the fallout from the event of Avengers: Endgame, as Wilson struggles with succeeding Rogers as the next Cap and the government's eagerness to appoint a new one in his absence. The six-episode breakout for the former sidekick also sets up the incoming phase of the MCU, which is still mostly out of focus. But with Loki wrapping up last month and with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Eternals dropping in the fall, we should have some more clarity on what MCU's future will be looking like soon.
