Quentin Tarantino Says Everyone But Bruce Lee's Daughter Can "Suck A D**k" Over 'Hollywood' Controversy
Quentin Tarantino discussed his controversial depiction of Bruce Lee in his movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, during a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Although Quentin Tarantino understands why Bruce Lee's daughter was upset with how her father was depicted in his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood movie, the director could care less about what anybody else had to say about it.
During a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Tarantino addressed the controversy he faced for how Lee is depicted in the 2019 film. When the movie first came out, Shannon Lee (Lee's daughter) said that the film showed her father as "an arrogant asshole who was full of hot air," and "not someone who had to fight triple as hard as any of those people did to accomplish what was naturally given to so many others."
"What I’m interested in is raising the consciousness of who Bruce Lee was as a human being and how he lived his life. All of that was flushed down the toilet in this portrayal, and made my father into this arrogant punching bag," she had also said at the time.
While speaking with Rogan, Tarantino understood Shannon's criticism of the depiction, saying: "Where I’m coming from is…I can understand his daughter having a problem with it, it’s her f**king father! I get that."
As for everyone else though that had something to say about how Lee was portrayed in the film, well, this is all Tarantino had to say: "Go suck a d**k."
Elsewhere during the conversation, Tarantino spoke on the fight between Lee and the fictional Cliff Booth, saying that the character "tricked" Lee during their scuffle, while also going into the differences of the two fighters, specifically Booth being a killer and Lee being a martial arts master.
