Quinta Brunson Gets An Emmy Speech Do-Over — And Apology — On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Days after winning her first Emmy, Quinta Brunson got an acceptance speech d0-over, stealing the show on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Jimmy Kimmel carved out space to apologize to Quinta Brunson on his talk show Wednesday night (September 14). Brunson's appearance came just two days after the Abbott Elementary creator won her first Emmy for Outstanding Writing For a Comedy Series. While making her 45-second acceptance speech, Kimmel laid onstage, sparking social media backlash.

On Kimmel's talk show, Brunson was given more time to finish her acceptance speech instead of the host performing his usual monologue. Thanking her creative partners and Abbott Elementary fans, Brunson also shouted out the show's writers, saying, "I wouldn't have this [Emmy] without you. Now, please go to bed, we have work tomorrow – even though you're adults and I have no jurisdiction over when you sleep."

Kimmel also made time to apologize for interrupting Brunson's initial speech Monday night (September 12).

“And then people said I stole your moment and maybe I did, and I’m sorry I did do that,” he said. “Also, the last thing I would ever want to do is upset you because I think so much of you. I think you know that. I hope you know that.”

“Jimmy let me just say thank you,” Brunson responded. “It’s very kind of you to say that. Honestly, I was in such a moment of having a good time. I won my first Emmy! I was up there like, you know, happy! And I was wrapped up in the moment, just having a good time. I didn’t see any of that ….honestly, I had a good night. It was a good night and a good time.”
