The show took home the Best Animated Show honors at the 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards. The same year, it won the same award at the Critics' Choice Television Awards. A few days ago, showrunners teased the upcoming season with a short homage to Japanese films and mangas. Additionally, Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland is readying a new animated series, Solar Opposites, on Hulu. The new show arrives on May 8th.
The new season comes significantly sooner than previous installments have. Two whole years passed between the second and third seasons, as well as between season three and the first half of season four. This time around, only five months separate the respective season premieres.
